Public Statement from Reformation City Church

With heavy hearts, we at Reformation City Church extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Carl Williams. III, and to all who were affected by the tragic events that unfolded on Sunday evening at the Saenger Theatre in downtown Mobile. Our prayers are also with the individual who sustained injuries and is now on the road to recovery.

This unimaginable act of violence during what should have been a joyful and innocent celebration of our children’s gifts and talents has shaken us all. It is a sobering reminder of the increase in public violence that we are witnessing in our beloved city. As a church committed to the well-being of our community, we mourn with those who mourn, and we stand in solidarity with every heart that is grieving in this moment.

We echo the sentiments of our city leaders, violence has no place in our community, especially not in spaces meant to uplift and nurture the next generation. Now more than ever, we must unite in love, in strength, and in prayer. We must cover our city, our children, and one another with compassion and intercession.

To the community of Mobile, we speak hope: God is still near to the brokenhearted, and His light still shines in the darkness. Even in the face of tragedy, we believe in the power of unity and the healing that comes when we turn toward one another, rather than away.

Let us commit to being agents of peace and voices of reconciliation. Let us create safe spaces for our children, stand as pillars of support for grieving families, and continue to call upon God for wisdom, strength, and protection.

With love, compassion, and unwavering faith,
